  I had an issue with foot pain and went to DR. Maurice Aiken. I liked him, his office and his staff. He diagnosed my concern quickly and correctly. The issue that I have is that he, Dr. Aiken, recommended I get custom made orthotic inserts from a company named Ortho-Rite. I spent hundreds of dollars out of my pocket for them on his recommendation. After only 10 months they are falling apart. When I called his office to inquire what I should do, they asked me to pay $80.00 in shipping to send them back to the company he bought them from to get them fixed. I was hesitant to pay $80.00 since it had been less than 1 year that I have had them. I looked the company that made the inserts online and was encouraged when their banner stated: A world where challenges, high demand, quality, and consistency come first. I called the company direct (Ortho-Rite) since they stated the always went above and beyond. Much to my dismay, they said that they could not help me as I was not their customer the doctor was. They stated that any issues I had I needed to speak to the Doctor about not them. I am not sure how this dismissive attitude fits in with the above mission statement from Ortho-Rite. Having Plantar factious and needing the inserts I ended up paying the $80.00 to “refurbish” the inserts but I will not be conducting business with either company again. I believe that if the doctor recommends a product he should stand behind that product or at least try to help you get satisfaction from a defective product. Dr. Maurice Aiken's office and the representative from Ortho-Rite made me feel that once they get the money, the customer is no longer important.
